In October 2000, Anthony Aric Arroyo was diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia (FA), an inherited type of anemia that leads to bone marrow failure and also a cancer prone disease which patients are hundreds to thousands of times more likely to develop various types of cancer than the general population and currently there is no cure for FA.

Anthony had a bone marrow transplant on July 28, 2004, and in July 2014, he was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Oral Cancer.  In February 2015, 10 days short of Anthony’s 17th birthday, ended his battle with FA and cancer. Anthony’s passing was devastating for our entire family, as words cannot express our loss and the void it has left in our lives.

To honor Anthony’s legacy, we have established the Anthony Aric Arroyo Memorial Fund (AAAMF), tax ID #81-2633250, to continue his passion and vision for finding a cure for FA, to financially assist families with terminally ill children at Valley Children’s Hospital (Captain Anthony’s Fund) and a scholarship fund in his memory.
